My name is Paula, founder of mums who trail and mum to two beautiful girls.

I feel privileged to have played professional sport in New Zealand for 12 years. Sport was my life. I then became a mum in 2021 and life suddenly shifted very quickly in ways I did not expect.

In my mind I thought I’d bounce back into sport in a reasonable amount of time but my body and my priorities had other ideas. I really missed having a goal, an outlet, and a challenge to say the least that I found myself lacking balance.

In 2025 I discovered trail running, something I’d never really considered seriously until my work in conservation an trail running came together. This opened the door for me to sign up for my first half marathon all for a good cause.

On this journey I have met some incredible mums. Running alongside women who understood the juggle, the courage, and the effort just to show up. This made me feel proud and inspired. It reminded me that we are capable of anything.

This is where the idea of mums who trail was born. A desire to support, uplift, and celebrate mums finding their strength on the trails.

My intention is to create a community that honours juggling motherhood and the love of trails. A love I believe many mums are yet to discover. We are here to support you no matter where you are at in your journey.

Arohanui,

Paula
